The estate is named ¡ÈSan Simone¡É after a 14th century church which is located near to where, in 1915, the great-great grandfather of the current owners started the winery. Over time the winery was relocated from Prata to Porcia to be closer to the family¡Çs vineyards. Processing the ripe grapes quickly during the wine making process, handling them gently and without much manipulation is of utmost importance to produce high quality wines. The 60 hectares which constitute the estate consists of vineyards in five different locations.
PORCIA
The loose soils mixed with clay, limestone, sand and silt are perfect to grow high quality white wine grapes.
AZZANO DECIMO
This soil of alluvial origin, rich with clay and limestone is best suited to grow Cabernet grapes.
CONEGLIANO
The soil of calcareous clay and sandstone subsoil is best suited for Glera, a white grape variety.
DOC FRIULI GRAVE
Grave stands for the kind of gravely, alluvial soil of the region. The mostly white wines from the region are reputed for their crisp nature, aromatic complexity and varietal intensity.
DOC PROSECCO
DOC Prosecco is Italy¡Çs largest vine growing region. The Glera grape, of which most Prosecco are made, grows well in this area.
The younger generation of the Brisotto family who is now in charge (Chiara, Anna and Antonio) have committed the company to follow the path of ¡ÈSustainable Viticulture¡É. Sustainable farming is not a set of rules what and what not to do as each soil and environment has to be handled individually. Farming in sustainable ways means to improve (at least sustain) the organic health of the soil and the environment for the next generation, create a safe and healthy working environment now and permanently reduce or at least minimize any environmental impact an action taken may have.
